Clearwater Marine Aquarium
This non-profit, working aquarium is one of eight facilities in the United States, and the only one on the west coast of Florida, authorized to rescue and rehabilitate marine mammals. Home of the inspiration for “Dolphin Tale,” this aquarium exhibits marine mammals & sea turtles. It offers a “hands on” experience of personal encounters with dolphins, sea turtles, otters, sting rays, and coral reefs. Injured or sick marine mammals recover here until they can be returned to the gulf. Some become permanent residents and enjoy daily contact with their handlers and visitors.
