Annual Events in Tampa
Gasparilla Pirate Fest – Since 1904 hundreds of colorfully costumed pirates, accompanied
by hundreds of colorful boats, over take the city of Tampa in honor of the mythical pirate
Jose Gaspar, re-enacting the historic pirate invasion. It is one of the country's largest and
most unique outdoor celebrations. The Gasparilla Festival offers a parade, children’s parade
as well as entertainment and festivities that last well into the night. The pirates throw beads,
trinkets and prizes to an enthusiastic crowd along the parade route. The parade draws close
to 500,000 spectators each year. The entire city comes to a halt on this day and it is
definitely something to enjoy when you own property in Tampa.
Guavaween - a Latin-style Halloween celebration held in Tampa's historic Ybor City.
This event is geared town the 21 and older crowd and draws an estimated 80,000
people for the nighttime portion. You will see an amazing assortment of costumes unlike
anything you have ever witnessed before. There is also a daytime event, more appropriate
for families with children and can draw upwards of 20,000 people.
Florida Annual Strawberry Festival - each year around March, just outside of Tampa in
Plant City, the Strawberry Festival is held. Over 3/4 of the nation's midwinter strawberries
originate in Plant City so it has been coined the "Winter Strawberry Capital of the World".
For over 70 years, the festival has been celebrated here featuring everything strawberry you
can imagine. From daily entertainment to freshly made shortcake with fresh strawberries you
and your entire family will have lots of fun throughout the day. For an affordable entry price,
you will find agricultural shows, fun "all you can eat" contests, exciting rides, children's parades,
and country singing entertainment all in one place. The Strawberry Festival is not to be missed.
