Clearwater Marine Aquarium -
This non-profit, working aquarium is one of eight facilities
in the United States, and the only one on the west coast of Florida, authorized to
rescue and rehabilitate marine mammals. It offers a "hands on" experience of personal
encounters with dolphins, sea turtles, otters, sting rays, and coral reefs. Injured or sick
marine mammals recover here until they can be returned to the gulf. Some become
permanent residents and enjoy daily contact with their handlers and visitors.
Richard B. Baumgardner Center for the Performing Arts – Ruth Eckerd Hall -was
constructed in 1983 by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. The Richard B. Baumgardner
Center for the Performing Arts is well known and respected for its state of the art equipment
and great acoustics. The entire facility has recently undergone a million dollar renovation.
It has been nominated as one of the five top concert halls in the United States by a
nation-wide industry poll of technicians and artists. It comfortably seats 2,180 for concerts,
recitals, plays and special events. The programs at Ruth Eckerd Hall offer a vast range of
performances for everyone to enjoy. They provide an opportunity for visitors to enjoy
classical music, the best in Broadway, world stage, jazz, dance, pop, country, children's theater
and some of the best comedy.
